Try something new…

Are you up for a challenge? No? Maybe? Aww come on…you can do better than that! Are you ready for a challenge? Good, here you go:

Try the following over the weekend and let me know what happens.

Every person that you come in direct contact with…EVERY person, family, friend, stranger…everyone…find one thing nice or encouraging to say to that person. It will be harder to do for family than strangers I think you’ll find. But even if it’s as simple as smiling ( a real geniune smile, there has to be at least one thing in your life that you’re happy about, like say the fact that you’re alive and able to read this post) and saying “Have a great (day, evening, weekend).” You will be surprised at the reactions you get. Some good, some bad, some indifferent. But you might not ever know what the outcome is because it could come later.

Don’t be a passing shadow in your own life. Be a lighthouse! For yourself and for others. Your light could show a stranger that there is hope. You could keep that one person from becoming a serial killer because your smile could crack that wall around them. People need to know that there is actual life on this planet and that someone actually sees them. Just them…not wanting anything more than to acknowledge their presence.

Make the decision to be positive…just for the weekend…and then see how much longer you can keep it up. Kindness can do so many great things. Check it out and see. Then come back and share!!

Have a great weekend! God Bless!

Life’s Journey ~ Day 3 ~ April 3, 2009

Yesterday was a very tough day!!  I was hungrier than I have been in a long time when I woke up.  Then proceeded to lose control of my car in the rain and but by the grace of God, did not hit anyone, only the mediun and did minor damage to the car (we think).  So I spent the rest of the day pretty shook up and wanting all sorts of comfort food.  My favorite being Popeye’s mashed potatoes and gravy!!  But, alas, it was not to be.

The demons were playing havoc with my too.  Every excuse I could think of (or they could think of) was circling around in my head.  Including the wedding of some dear friends!!  But I refused to give in.  I did have two little bites of watermelon because I am doing juice & water.  My poor husband had to listen to me dealing with all this.  But all in all I am feeling pretty good about myself and staying on track.  I could see the enemy for what he was and managed to overcome him.  I definitely had to turn to God to do it, but I am so thankful to have Him to turn to.

My husband is truly a God send at this time.  He is very supportive of my task and even tries not to eat around me.  My close friends are also really helping me by offering support and prayers.  I truly feel this will not only bring me closer to God, but allow me to build stronger relationships with my friends and family.

As always, thank you for stopping by, please come back anytime.  God bless!

Life’s journey ~ Day 2 ~ April 2, 2009

Click here for –> Day 1

Day two started off with me being pretty grumpy, mild headache and cramps (which I gave in and took ibuprofen for) and just plain tired.  I truly dislike being a girl sometimes, although my husband always makes me happy that I am!

Anyway, I think I will do juice through Friday and then water only on Saturday & Sunday.  (Of course I will be drinking the Mona-Vie on water days as well but only the 4oz)  I will be adding some cardio today as well, either walking at work or on the exercise bike at home.  It will be mild, but with the sugar intake from the fruit juice, I need to incorporate some calorie burning exercise so as not to have this whole thing backfire on me and end up gaining weight.

I have really had to turn to God today for strength!  Not only do I not feel well, but I think all anyone talks about at work is food.  Not to mention that my ‘roommate’ always has some kind of food going on at her desk.  Not helping the hunger pains any.  We just got back from Publix, we went looking for fruit alternatives besides OJ.  My hubby keeps telling me to make fruit smoothies (no milk) but I am concerned about that defeating the purpose of the fast.  Without a juicer, anything we do with fresh fruit is still going to have the fruit fibers in it and that is what takes time to digest.  This is a bit frustrating.  I should have done a bit more pre-planning as far as the juice side goes I am seeing now.  But I will not falter.  Actually, I sure did whine a lot today…”I’m never going to make ittttttt!”  WAIT!!! It’s only been two days!!  Can you stupid little demons at least give me until, say day 7 before you start this crap?!?

Anyway….sorry for the outburst there.  Days 1, 2 & 3 are usually the hardest so I am sure I will be a basket case tomorrow! I’m trying to figure out how I avoid eating at a friend’s wedding tomorrow night. Yeah, this ought to be fun.  “Umm, I know you spent all this money on the food and stuff, but I can’t eat it.”  I know, I’ll make my husband & daughter eat my portion!!  That’ll work!

Ok, I think I am done babbling for tonight!  I’m tired and still have a headache so I’m going to bed!

Thanks for coming by, hope to ‘see’ you tomorrow!! God Bless!

PS: I failed miserably at doing the cardio thing today.  Oh well, tomorrow’s another day!

Sears: Christmas shopping has already started

I know I needed this reminder since Sears isn’t always
my first choice. Amazing when you think of how long the war
has lasted and they haven’t withdrawn from their
commitment. Could we each buy at least one thing at Sears
this year?

How does Sears treat its employees who are called up for
military duty? By law, they are required to hold their jobs
open and available, but nothing more. Usually, people take a
big pay cut and lose benefits as a result of being called

Sears is voluntarily paying the difference in salaries and
maintaining all benefits, including medical insurance and
bonus programs, for all called up reservist employees for up
to two years.

I submit that Sears is an exemplary corporate citizen and
should be recognized for its contribution. I suggest we all
shop at Sears, and be sure to find a manager to tell them
why we are there so the company gets the positive
reinforcement it well deserves.

Pass it on.

Decided to check this before I sent it forward. So I sent
the following e-mail to the Sears Customer Service

I received this e-mail and I would like to know if it is
true. If it is, the Internet may have just become one very
good source of advertisement for your company. I know I
would go out of my way to buy products from Sears instead of
another store for a like item, even if it’s cheaper at
that store.

This is their answer to my e-mail:

Dear Customer:

Thank you for contacting Sears. The information is factual.
We appreciate your positive feedback.

Sears regards service to our country as one of greatest
sacrifices our young men and women can make. We are happy to
do our part to lessen the burden they bear at this time.

Bill Thorn
Sears Customer Care

Please pass this on to all your friends. Sears needs to be
recognized for this outstanding contribution and we need to
show them as Americans, we do appreciate what they are doing
for our military!!!

It’s verified ! By Snopes.com at:

Marigold’s Plea

Hello All,

Even though I can be a bossy pony I know you all still love me anyway.  After all, who could resist my cute good looks? As many of you know I don’t sweat so the summer gets soooooo hot for me! Many of my buddies out here tell me they are hot too.  Especially Titan since he can’t sweat either. On hot summer days the only way all of us can get comfortable is to have two fans on us since we don’t have air conditioning (I’m thinking we should have air conditioning, what’s up with that?).  Unfortunately almost all of the fans from last summer are either broken or almost broken so we need some help.  Is there anyone who could help us by bringing us some fans?  It sure would be COOL! 🙂

See you next time you are out!

Marigold and all her Freedom Ride horse pals

As some of you may know, I have a soft spot in my heart for horses. If you check out my Freedom Ride page you find out more about an organization that has also won my heart. The above staement is a plea for fans for the horses there. Florida summers can be extremely rough and these animals can only do so much for themselves. If you can find it in your heart to maybe send them a donation for the purpose of buying fans, I would be forever grateful to your kindness and compassion.

Thank you for stopping by and God Bless!!
